What we publish

ChivalrousGent exists to provide trustworthy, practical guidance about character, conduct, etiquette and the knowledge of everyday life. The Handbook is our central reference, supported by articles about style, grooming, travel, living and culture. We favour enduring usefulness over headlines chosen merely for attention.

Accuracy and sources

Factual claims should be checked against dependable sources appropriate to the subject. Those may include published guidance from recognised institutions, original primary material, specialist references and direct information from brands or manufacturers. Where sources materially support a guide, we aim to identify them so readers can examine the basis for the advice.

We distinguish fact from opinion and make clear when a recommendation is a matter of judgement. We do not invent sources, quotes, credentials or first-hand experience. Dates, prices and product availability can change and should be confirmed at the original source.

Etiquette and context

Good manners are grounded in respect, but customs are not identical in every country or setting. Where advice reflects a particular tradition, we explain the circumstances in which it applies. Practical guidance should tell readers why a convention exists, not demand obedience to an unexplained rule.

Originality and attribution

Our articles are written for this publication. Quotations, research and third-party reporting should be credited where appropriate. Photographs and product information may be supplied by rights holders, retailers or commercial data providers. Their inclusion does not automatically mean an endorsement.

Editorial independence

The choice to cover a topic or recommend an item should follow its relevance and usefulness to readers. Affiliate partnerships and potential commissions do not purchase favourable coverage. Any paid collaboration must be identified clearly rather than presented as independent editorial.

Products shown alongside guides must belong to the subject being discussed and come from genuine catalogue listings. We do not invent products, prices or retailer offers to complete a selection. Where suitable listings cannot be verified, a product panel may display fewer pieces or none at all.

Retailers determine prices, stock and final purchase terms. Product listings and photographs can change without notice.

Reviews, updates and corrections

We seek to correct material inaccuracies when they are brought to our attention. Substantive revisions should be reflected in the article’s update information when available. Evergreen guides should be revisited when recognised practices or underlying facts materially change.

Readers can report a factual error, outdated recommendation or attribution concern through our Contact page. We review corrections on their merits and update the relevant material where warranted.

Authorship and accountability
